Renewal Policy

Effective: 2026 · Level 10 Investments LLC

Renewal Requirement

NCFET credentials require renewal to remain active. An active credential status is required to display your credential as current, maintain your public verification record as active, and represent yourself as a currently credentialed NCFET technician.

Standard Credential Validity

Standard NCFET certification credentials are valid for 24 months from the date of issuance. Specialty endorsements follow the same renewal schedule as the primary credential they are linked to.

Renewal Window

Renewal is available beginning 60 days before the credential expiration date. Technicians are encouraged to renew early to avoid any gap in active credential status. Renewal reminders are sent at 90, 60, 30, and 7 days before expiration.

Renewal Exam

Renewal requires passing a renewal exam. The renewal exam covers current-level competency topics. The exam consists of 20–30 questions per certification level. A minimum passing score of 70% is required. Exam questions are randomized. Failed renewal exams may be retaken after a waiting period.

Renewal Fees

  • Level 1 renewal: $50
  • Level 2 renewal: $50
  • Level 3 renewal: $100
  • Level 4 renewal: $100
  • Level 5 renewal: $100
  • Instructor credential renewal: Contact NCFET

Expired Credentials

An expired credential is no longer active in the public verification database. Expired credentials cannot be displayed as active. If a credential expires, the technician must contact NCFET for reinstatement options. Reinstatement may require retesting or payment of reinstatement fees depending on the length of the lapse.

Renewal Does Not Guarantee Authorization

Renewing an NCFET credential does not change its scope. A renewed NCFET credential still does not constitute a government license, manufacturer authorization, warranty coverage, or guarantee of field-work quality. The credential continues to certify completion of NCFET education and testing requirements only.
